Four Things You Might Not Know About the CCS Hotline

Posted August 21, 2023

Since 1977, Center for Community Solutions has operated the only 24-hour toll free County-wide hotline for crisis intervention and information related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in San Diego. Our hotline counselors provide trauma-informed safety planning, emotional support, expert navigation of county resources, and connection to services. All hotline calls are free and confidential.

Here are four things you might not know about the CCS 24-hour hotline.

  1. The hotline is not just for survivors. We often receive calls from friends and family members of trauma survivors. We offer ways they can support their loved one, and we share the impacts trauma can have on an individual who has experienced sexual assault (SA) or intimate partner violence (IPV). We are also utilized by hospitals, police, and caseworkers who are supporting survivors and need assistance in finding specific resources.
  2. Hotline services are offered in multiple languages. Many of our hotline counselors who are bilingual speak Spanish, Arabic, or Kurdish in addition to English. In partnership with Deaf Community Services, we offer ASL interpretation and other languages are available through Certified Languages International. Certified Languages International connects our hotline with interpreters for over 230 languages, so if English is not your preferred language, we hope that does not deter you from calling!
  3. Hotline counselors undergo extensive training and are certified SA/IPV counselors. They can offer brief crisis intervention, client-led safety planning, resources, and IPV/SA education about the cycle of violence. Most importantly, our hotline counselors listen to empathize, educate, and empower each caller.
  4. Our hotline is the starting point for all CCS services. Our hotline serves as the first point of contact for CCS services and hotline counselors offer warm referrals and hand offs to legal, counseling, shelter, prevention services and more.
