2025 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

Throughout the past year of historic funding shifts and unprecedented challenges for our San Diego communities, we have stayed grounded in our mission: to end relationship and sexual violence by supporting survivors and transforming the conditions that allow abuse to persist. More than five decades after our founding, that commitment continues to guide us. Because of your steadfast support, our services remain a trusted source of hope and possibility for those who often receive the least recognition. Every survivor who entrusts us with their story deserves the chance to heal and build a safe, successful life—and your partnership makes that possible.

One truth has become more clear than ever: community matters—both in our mission and in the ongoing commitment that makes it possible. Over the last year, we strengthened programs that remove barriers and create lasting stability. By covering critical costs associated with moving and securing housing, we helped 143 survivors transition into safe, permanent homes beyond our shelter programs. At the same time, our prevention and education efforts gained remarkable traction. Through our partnership with High Tech High and other community outreach initiatives, we delivered in-depth curriculum and resources to address relationship and sexual violence before it happens—reaching over 3,000 additional students, parents, teachers, and community members compared to last year. These efforts are creating replicable models that can be implemented in schools and communities across our region.

Together, we are proving that even in uncertain times, progress is possible when we stay true to our purpose and united in our commitment to survivors. Thank you for standing with us as we advance toward our vision: a community where all people live full, free, expressive, and empowered lives in safety and peace.

With Gratitude,
Cori Austin, CEO & John Finley, Board President

Our Mission

It is the mission of Center for Community Solutions to end relationship and sexual violence.

When no one else was able to help me, my advocate did, and I am forever grateful. I am now helping other survivors like CCS does.

I love supporting the Center for Community Solutions because survivors deserve a safe place to turn, someone who believes them, and the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity. CCS makes that possible! Grateful they are able to provide protection, compassion and a path towards healing.

Now I do feel stronger to fight back. I was really scared and felt alone but with the support they had given I could breathe again.

CCS Shelter Receives Vital Renovations, Thanks to Funding from Las Patronas

Thanks to generous funding from Las Patronas, CCS replaced the roof of our Hidden Valley House shelter. All residents in CCS’ shelter programs are offered tailored, no-cost support services, including safety and goal planning, financial assistance, legal aid, counseling, and advocacy. By supporting CCS in purchasing a new roof for our Hidden Valley House shelter, we can continue providing safe, stable housing for San Diego survivors and their families, many of whom would otherwise face homelessness. We are grateful to Las Patronas for their support in ensuring every survivor has the safety and dignity they need to heal and thrive.

Powerful Prevention on Campus – CCS & High Tech High

At the High Tech High Point Loma Village, CCS’ prevention program continues to thrive. Thanks to the support of a grant through the Office on Violence Against Women and the CCS School-Based Coordinator who makes this work possible, more than 400 middle and high school students, teachers, and administrators have been trained in consent, bystander intervention, and other essential skills related to violence prevention. Through student-centered initiatives like donation drives for families affected by domestic violence, social media campaigns, educational workshops, and a vibrant mural urging classmates, teachers, and administrators to “Plant Seeds of Kindness,” students are transforming their campus into a culture of care. This violence prevention education is shaping a generation of young people to nurture safe and respectful communities.

Close to Home Brings Awareness to Escondido

Through a multi-year contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CCS and Education COMPACT brought Escondido community members together to form “Corazones Unidos” (United Heart). This group of CCS & Education COMPACT staff members, students, and parents from the Escondido community meet monthly to discuss and share resources related to consent, teen dating, and healthy relationships. Through the creation of educational and interactive workshops, Corazones Unidos aims to use community outreach and engagement strategies to better Escondido’s overall health and safety, and their mission statement reads, “We are a community organization in Escondido that offers education, support, and prevention against sexual violence and abuse, with the goal of creating healthy relationships.” The work and success of Corazones Unidos is a prime example of the power of community members working together to make immediate, impactful change, and they hope to expand their group to include even more members in the new year.

Volunteers: Champions of Hope and Healing

Champions of Hope and Healing

This year our 127 volunteers shared more than 17,000 hours of support, dedication, and hope with survivors!

Our volunteers truly are the heart of CCS. Their empathy, expertise, and steadfast commitment turn obstacles into possibilities and provide survivors with pathways to healing and hope.

These invaluable partners serve in a wide range of roles, including counseling trainees; sexual assault and housing advocates; attorneys; and outreach, prevention, and community engagement volunteers. We are also deeply grateful for the leadership and support of our Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and the Hidden Valley House and Project Safehouse Auxiliaries, whose collaboration helps ensure survivors receive the comprehensive support they deserve.

Tea & Tonic

The 26th Annual Tea & Tonic at the iconic Hotel del Coronado raised an incredible $530,000, once again serving as our largest source of unrestricted funding. This signature event not only fuels our programs - it also offers a powerful platform to share our mission and elevate conversations about relationship violence and sexual assault throughout the community. Guest speaker Amanda Nguyen - a leading force behind the Sexual Assault Survivor Rights Act passed unanimously by Congress in 2017 and a 2019 Nobel Peace Prize nominee - moved attendees with her powerful story and advocacy on behalf of survivors. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including the Walter J. & Betty C. Zable Foundation, Tea & Tonic continues to make a profound impact on the critical services and prevention efforts we provide.

2025 Financial Snapshot

Our strategic growth of philanthropic support and immediate use of funds for urgent community needs ensure both our financial health and ability to advance our mission to help survivors and prevent assault. To address historic federal funding reductions in 2024 and 2025, CCS prioritized leadership focus on advocacy and response to service delivery changes in government contracts.
