Support CCS By Making An In-Kind Contribution
In addition to financial contributions, CCS also accepts a variety of In-Kind Donations and services. Donations can be dropped off at any of our three locations throughout San Diego. A sampling of some of our needs is listed below. For additional information and need items, contact any of our three CCS offices.
- Baby/Children items — diapers of all sizes, baby wipes, baby food, formula, baby socks, new car seats, strollers, and toys. Many of the survivors we serve come to our shelters with babies and small children who quickly go through
these items.
- Non-perishable foods — pasta, rice, canned goods, peanut butter, etc. At any given time, we must have enough food on hand to provide approximately 150 meals a day.
- Grocery store gift cards (like Albertsons, Food4Less, Vons, or Ralphs). These are used to purchase perishable foods, like bread, milk, and eggs.
- Gift cards to superstores (like Target).
- Vouchers for taxi companies (like Yellow Cab). Survivors and their children break away from violent situations 24 hours a day, and need flexible reliable transportation to get to safety.
- Hotel vouchers and gift certificates. When our shelters are full, these are sometimes the only way we can offer a safe refuge for survivors in crisis.
- New sweat suits of all sizes. Clothing is taken away from sexual assault survivors for evidence at the hospital.
- New undergarments and sleepwear, all sizes. The need for new, clean underwear for all of our survivors and their children cannot be overlooked.
- Gift cards to Payless Shoe Store. Children's feet grow fast!
- Paper products — paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
- Personal care items — toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and brushes.
- Art supplies — new pads of drawing paper, acrylic paint, modeling clay, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencil sets, watercolor paint sets, brushes, poster board, construction paper, and white all-purpose glue. We use art supplies for many of our programs, ranging from our prevention-oriented after-school youth programs to art therapy for children exposed to domestic violence.
- Donate your vehicle, boat, or RV — CCS does all the work and you just provide the vehicle!
- Patio furniture.
- Services — graphic design, in-kind printing services, computer training, handyman-type projects. Any service costs we can save go directly back into our programs, working to heal and prevent violence in our communities.
For drop off at our North County and East County offices only:
- New or gently used women's, children's, or babies' clothing. Survivors often leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
If you are interested in becoming involved with CCS, attend an orientation to familiarize yourself with the organization. We can provide you with additional information and place you in the area that best suits your needs.
