The event was successful in drawing nearly four hundred attendees, including Casey Gwinn, Leon Williams, Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, as well as representatives from the offices of Mayor Jerry Sanders, Christine Kehoe and Toni Atkins. The outpouring of support for this event resulted in $71,000 in proceeds, which will help sustain valuable CCS programs and impact the lives of the 15,000 clients the agency serves each year. ![]() “We are very pleased by the outstanding turnout as well as the continued generosity of our many volunteers and sponsors,” said Verna Griffin-Tabor, executive director of Center for Community Solutions. “We salute their tireless efforts in assisting us with the healing and preventing of sexual assault and relationship violence.” Honorees this year included: Lydia Shoopman and Sandy Roberts, who received the Program Volunteers of the Year award; Marc Kuritz who was honored as the Community Partner of the Year; Cox Kids Foundation and Union Bank of California were awarded the Corporate Partners of the Year; and finally Marites, a survivor of sexual assault, received the 2006 Courage Award. Home Deport Supply and Nordstrom were co-sponsors for the 2006 Tea by the Sea. Other sponsors included: Cox Kids Foundation, Cubic Corporation, Croce’s, ProFlowers, San Diego County Credit Union, Charriol Geneve, National University, Tabor Communications, Lisa Stennes-Laikind of Prudential Realty, David Santistevan, Cantina Restaurant, and The Frame Maker. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of the generous individuals and local businesses that helped engender this success. All proceeds from this event help support the Center’s diverse domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention programs and services. |
