7th Annual Glowball Golf Tournament a Success!

On Friday, October 8th 2004 the Willowbrook Men's Club hosted their 7th Annual Glowball Golf Tournament to help support the domestic violence prevention and intervention programs offered at CCS. This year's event raised $15,000, bringing the total overall contribution to the agency just under $53,000! Not only is the financial support outstanding, but the support and awareness the event provides is invaluable.

A Men's Club is not the first place that comes to mind when thinking of how one could get involved in domestic violence prevention. When asked why they became involved tournament chair, Bob Gore responded, " Seven years ago the Willowbrook Men's decided to sponsor a charity. Along with Co-Chair Dennis Adair, we decided to organize a 9-hole Glow Ball Tournament and agreed it should benefit both women and children. Through the help of Margaret Sanfellipo then in charge of the SD County Sheriff's Lakeside Storefront, we were put in contact with Laurine Baxter, who is the Residential Services Director at CCS. Since that time each October we commit ourselves to raising funds for the unfortunate victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse that use the programs and services offered at CCS."

The annual tournament is held at night with the help of a special ball that becomes illuminated when a glow stick is inserted into the ball. It is a foursome scramble format and fun for every one of all ages and skill levels. Registration includes a delicious catered barbecue dinner compliments of JR Henderson's Wrangler Family Barbecue. The event includes various prizes and an opportunity drawing at the end of the game.

Center for Community Solutions would like to thank all of the special people who helped put together this year's event, Event Chair, Bob Gore, Dennis Adair, Sam Tzathas, Spero Tzathas, Chris White and Dottie Kuehni of the SD Sheriffs Santee Station and all of the members of the Willowbrook Men's Club for supporting the event.
