« Back To News Headlines CCS to Host Free Community Day Center for Community Solutions Community Awareness Day Saturday, October 23rd Presented by Cox Communications In honor of Center for Community Solutions 35 year anniversary and Domestic Violence Awareness Month CCS will be holding a free educational forum and community day for the public. Activities to include trainings, guest speakers, refreshments, informational tabling, prizes and more. Come learn about the history of Center for Community Solutions and potential volunteer opportunities. Some sessions available in Spanish and advance registration is required. Informational Sessions to Include: Self Defense Training - learn how to increase your assertiveness and decrease your vulnerability to an attack with basic self defense skills.
Healthy Relationship Seminar - learn about different forms of
relationship violence including coercive and controlling behaviors and how you can protect yourselves and loved ones from situations like these. Session also includes ways that you can help yourself or others who are involved in an abusive relationship.
Teen Dating Violence Prevention - healthy relationships with a
focus on the specific issues around teen culture, coercion and manipulation, boundaries, gender roles and other important things teens (and their parents) need to know before they start dating.
Men's Role in Domestic Violence - breaking the violence of
silence - learn what men are doing to take a stand against domestic violence. Explore gender roles, stereotyping, and the evolution of the battered women's movement as they relate to domestic violence. Discover how everyone can work together to make a difference.
