Take Back the Night, also known as Reclaim the Night, is an internationally held march and rally intended as a protest and direct action against rape and other forms of violence against women. Three rallies will be held locally:
PRICE (Preventing Rape By Intoxication through Community Education) Campaign: This effort began earlier this month with the San Diego District Attorney’s office, police and sheriff departments, local colleges and universities as well as rape crisis centers joining together. The goal of PRICE is to increase awareness about participation in sexual acts when individuals are unable to give consent due to either voluntary or involuntary intoxication. Retreat for Rape Survivors: CCS is hosting its third annual retreat. The gathering will begin with a yoga session and continue throughout the day by giving survivors tools to help them heal. The event is sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Rancho Bernardo.
Escondido Safety Expo: The “Safety Safari” features an open house at Fire Station #5 on Felicita at the 15 Freeway. The Escondido Fire Department and the Rincon del Diablo Fire District are hosting the event.
Denim Day: A day dedicated to sexual assault awareness and offering healing/empowerment through art, education, music and self-expression. Wear denim in honor of the National Day to End Sexual Violence. R allies will be held locally.
Hidden Valley House Auxiliary: The “Put Your Best Foot Forward High Tea” benefits the emergency shelter at Hidden Valley House. Included in the $35 ticket price are a gourmet refreshments, fabulous silent auction and wonderful entertainment.
Jeans for Justice Fashion Show and Auction: Consciously Social Events presents the second annual event benefiting the San Diego Center for Children in an effort to unite the San Diego community in a stylish, high energy benefit. Saturday, May 5; visit Consciously Social Events for more information. Noteworthy facts:
