Bon Iver launches 2 A Million campaign and partners with Center for Community Solutions to bring gender equity issues centerstage

San Diego – - In the midst of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and on the heels of the release of its new highly-acclaimed album 22, A Million, Bon Iver, led by Justin Vernon and Center for Community Solutions (CCS) announce a partnership as a part of the band’s newly founded charitable campaign: 2 A Million, an effort to bring gender equity issues centerstage by assisting in the pursuit to end domestic violence and sexual abuse.

This month marks the launch of Bon Iver’s international tour in support of 22, A Million, and in each city the band visits, it will partner with a local nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating barriers and creating pathways for women and girls to live safer, more prosperous lives.

“One of the biggest problems with domestic abuse is that people don’t talk about it. It’s insidious, stigmatized and hushed,” says Vernon. “It’s very important to us to encourage dialogue and support the incredible work of our nonprofit partners.”

Center for Community Solutions will partner with Bon Iver in San Diego to raise awareness and stir up conversation around such issues at the band’s sold out October 26th show at Copley Hall.

It is the mission of the Center for Community Solutions to end relationship and sexual violence by being a catalyst for caring communities and social justice. CCS’ vision is for all people to live full, free, expressive and empowered lives in a safe, vibrant, healthy and peaceful community.

“This partnership comes at a very important time as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. CCS is honored to partner with Bon Iver to raise awareness around these vital issues. We are grateful for this opportunity and hope that we can all work together to break the cycle of violence,” says Verna Griffin-Tabor, CEO for Center for Community Solutions.
